Bawah’s captivating atmosphere, reminiscent of a lost world, deeply influenced the architectural design approach. What’s more, its remote location was conducive to the resort infrastructure being constructed entirely by hand, without the use of heavy machinery. Fast-growing and sustainable bamboo was harvested in Java, prefabricated where appropriate, and then transported to Bawah for assembly.
Appropriately, the seclusion of this group of six islands alive with flora and fauna inspired a botanical expedition theme. Feel like an explorer as you discover unique ecosystems and connect with nature’s simple yet eternal pleasures.
Special attention was given to every aspect of the resort. From the intricately designed structures to the skilfully placed stones that pave the ground beneath your feet, every meticulous detail was executed by skilled local craftsmen. Here at Bawah Reserve, we are the proud home to Indonesia’s largest floating solar panel farm: 18 floating solar platforms – enough to provide the majority of Bawah’s electricity requirements! This immediately reduces our reliance on fuel, saving around 468 litres of diesel per day, or 170, 746 litres each year. It also promises a significant reduction in C02 emissions on our part. “The Boat House Bar is part of the beautiful Bawah Reserve. It’s considered a secret tip in Indonesia. Surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, you’ll find your toes swaying in the sand while seawater gently laps in the crystal blue lagoon. The ambience is particularly charming. Because the rainforest not only surrounds the Boat House Bar. It also provides the drift wood from which parts of the furnishings are made. Regional ingredients are used.
