Bawah’s captivating atmosphere, reminiscent of a lost world, deeply influenced the architectural design approach. What’s more, its remote location was conducive to the resort infrastructure being constructed entirely by hand, without the use of heavy machinery. Fast-growing and sustainable bamboo was harvested in Java, prefabricated where appropriate, and then transported to Bawah for assembly.
Appropriately, the seclusion of this group of six islands alive with flora and fauna inspired a botanical expedition theme. Feel like an explorer as you discover unique ecosystems and connect with nature’s simple yet eternal pleasures.
Special attention was given to every aspect of the resort. From the intricately designed structures to the skilfully placed stones that pave the ground beneath your feet, every meticulous detail was executed by skilled local craftsmen. From tiny flippers to ocean gliders 🐢
Did you know that only about 1 in 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings survive to adulthood? That’s why our conservation work at Bawah Reserve is so vital.
Through the dedicated work of our marine biologists and the @anambasorg, we relocate nests to our protected hatchery to ensure these little ones get a safe head start. Watching them take their first swim is a moment our guests never forget and seeing them return to our lagoons as adults is the ultimate reward ❤️
