Everything you need to know before you travel

Your journey begins in Singapore by chauffeur pick up from your hotel, residence or airport. Our travel coordinator will then escort you by ferry and car to Batam Airport, where you board our private Seaplane (an amphibious, twin-engine aircraft that can land and take-off both on land and on water). After an 80-minute flight, you will land in water at Bawah Reserve.

* Please note that transport to and from the resort is charged at $700 USD per person.

We offer up to three flights per day.

The first flight takes off from Batam Airport at 9:30 am local time. Guests travelling with us from Singapore will be collected from their residence, hotel or airport at 7 am (Singapore time) and escorted to Batam airport.

On return: we land in Batam at 13:30 pm local time. Arriving in Singapore at 16:45 pm.

Indonesian residents may meet us at Batam airport. In this situation, we require guests to be at the airport one hour before.

Due to the intimate size and nature of the resort, children must be a minimum of five years.

Parents must be aware that our Suites are designed to accommodate only 2 people.

We can add one additional bed per suite for $600 USD per night. This extra person is not entitled to spa treatments. Additional charges apply.

We have our Jungle Lodge, whilst not on the beach, this 2-bedroom lodge is perfect for families with younger children.

Our suites are all around 30m apart and not connected – so please bear this in mind if you have younger children.

The standard occupancy is 2 adults, however, the maximum occupancy per room is 3, we can add an additional bed. There is an additional charge of $600USD per night for the third occupant.

While internet access is available in your accommodation, we would love you to reconnect with real people during your stay. Enjoy what Bawah has to offer without the distraction of the outside world.

Whats app and light emails will all be fine – Don’t expect to be able to stream movies or download large attachments!

Everything is included in your package, and any extra costs will only be from journey package, diving, boutique purchases, or alcohol. All major credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Amex, JCB, Union Pay. Please note, however, we do not have currency exchange on the island and all cash transactions must be in Indonesian Rupiah.

As one of Indonesia’s first marine conservation areas, Bawah Reserve features an abundance of flourishing coral reefs and healthy marine life. All dive sites have similar topography, with a gentle sandy slope going down to approximately 7 meters before a further 25-30 meter depth. Cancellations and No Shows
a) Cancellations will be accepted with no charge up to 60 days before arrival
b) Cancellations within 60 days before arrival will be charged 100% of the entire stay
c) Cancellations must be confirmed in writing prior to the minimum notice dates
d) No refund applicable for no-show, days not used due to early check out or delayed arrivals

There is no Malaria on the island, but please consult your GP for advice on inoculations and medication required for travelling to Indonesia.

Expectant Mothers in normal health and with no pregnancy complications are not considered incapacitated until 28 weeks of pregnancy. In case of pregnancy over 28-36 weeks, medical clearance issued 7 days prior to commencement of travel should be submitted.

Due to our remote location, we would not recommend Bawah to expectant mothers over 28 weeks pregnant.

Yes – our dining is very much a bespoke experience. The chef will talk to you about your requirements and create a tailored menu accordingly. We can work with menus for vegans, vegetarians, halal (although not a registered halal kitchen we can cook accordingly), lactose intolerant. Please inform us when making your reservation.

Bawah Reserve is an officially protected marine area in which anchoring, fishing (up to 500 m from the barrier reefs) and the collection of any dead or alive coral and shells are prohibited.

There is plenty to do on Bawah. From various water sport activities (kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling, diving) around the marine eco-system to a choice of three jungle hikes through the lush fauna. There are 13 beaches to choose from and each of our three lagoons has a unique character of its own. Visit our other five islands. Unique moments include stargazing, outdoor cinema and dining experiences such as secluded beach picnics, BBQ dinners, in-room dining or in one of our four restaurants or bars.

Chill by our beautiful infinity swimming pool or head to our Wellbeing Centre for unlimited massages, facials and scrubs or take a yoga, Pilates, meditation class. We also have a library full of books and games.

We can certainly organise a ceremony for you. There are a few Indonesian laws you need to consider:

1. Registration to the local church
2. Registration to the Civil Authority (If wish to record the marriage in Indonesia)

Point 1 Docs required :
1. CNI (Certificate No Independent) from your countries embassy in Indonesia.
2. Copy of Passports
3. Birth certificates
4. For Catholic/Christian is the Baptist Certificate from their local church)
all to be submitted to the local church in Indonesia

Point 2
1. All in point 1 tobe submitted 2 weeks prior.
2. Picture (2 people in 1 page) of the couple.
3. 2 Witnesses + their passports/ID Card (Witness can be from Indonesia or foreigner).
Agents charge USD1000/marriage for this admin to be completed.

It is possible to book Bawah partially or completely for special occasions such as a weddings or other function. Just send us an email and we will put together a special package for you according to your requirements.

At just two degrees north of the Equator, Bawah has a hot tropical climate, with average daily temperatures ranging from 26°C to 29°C, and two distinct seasons: the dry southwest monsoon from June to October and the wet northeast monsoon from November to March. Days are generally sunny, and when it rains the showers are sudden and heavy but short-lived with plenty of blue skies in between. It has half the yearly precipitation of Singapore. Humidity ranges from around 65% to 96%.

The minimum stay of Bawah is 3 nights, but you may find this too short once you get here. Please contact us for special circumstances.

Yes, you can sail your boat to Bawah, but permission to enter our lagoons must be obtained 2 weeks prior to arrival. We will impose mooring charges and please note Bawah is an official protected marine area in which anchoring, fishing and the collection of any dead or live coral and shells are strictly prohibited. The mooring is chargeable at US$5/foot net per night. The revenue is entirely dedicated to fund the Bawah Conservation Foundation.

You must be in possession of a Passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and have tickets for your onward travel. Although more than 80 nationalities can enter Indonesia with a free 30-day Tourist Visa upon arrival, we recommend you check with your embassy or the Indonesian consulate in your home country for visa requirements.
